OEM Supplier Invests $1.3 Million In New Energy-Efficient Presses

NEW MACHINES HELP RUBBER SEAL MAKER IMPROVE QUALITY AND LOWER COSTS

Morgan Polymer Seals announced today a 1.3 Million dollar investment in eight new energy-efficient presses, including a 460-ton injection press, two 400-ton injection presses, three 400-ton vacuum compression presses, and two 110-ton plastic injection presses.

The company’s investment achieves several vital improvements to its manufacturing capabilities, which produces approximately 100 million parts per year for OEMs like Ford, GM, and Volkswagen. The new presses use less electricity, which reduces costs and supports lower pricing for their customers. The presses also utilize a ‘full-stroking ram’ to evenly distribute the clamp tonnage over the entire surface of the mold, which helps to maximize the life of the steel tool and protect customers' tooling investment.

General Manager, Alex Borboa, further explains the benefits of their investment.

We’ve partnered with Maplan for our vertical-style injection molding presses. They’re world-class machines that help us achieve an industry-leading low scrap rate. Also, vertical injection molding requires less square footage compared to a horizontal press, so we can put two machines in the same space that was previously occupied by one. And by committing to a common press manufacturer, we reduce our maintenance costs, since we do not need to stock key spare parts for a multitude of different equipment. With this investment, we’ve increased capacity, improved quality, and reduced costs.

This investment signals Morgan Polymer’s robust financial position and its continued commitment to growth in the automotive market, and beyond.
